Placing Zones

A Zone is a representation of an area on a store layout. This area might define a room or a department and is used to group objects within it for reporting and display purposes.

Adding Zones

To add zones to a proposed store layout, click on the Side Panel icon on the navbar to view the Zones Menu.

Zones available for placement will have been created in the Zone Manager and placed in a hierarchy under Trait Types and Traits.

To place a zone on the floor plan, select the zone from the list and click Place.

Click on the first point of the zone then click to pick all subsequent points or enter point coordinates on the command line. Ortho Mode can be activated by clicking  to restrict the lines to a horizontal or vertical direction if required.

To complete the zone, right click with the mouse, or enter ‘c’ on the command line and press the ENTER key. Press ESC to cancel.

Additional zones can be drawn, including multiple instances of the same zone. It is recommended not to overlap zones from the same Trait. Clicking Zone Overlaps from the Validation tab in the right side panel will highlight any overlapping zones in the same trait.

Using Ortho Mode when drawing zones can prevent overlapping. If a zone overlaps, it can be deleted and redrawn. To delete a zone, select it and click the Delete icon or click the Delete key on your keyboard.

To edit a zone once placed, select the zone and open the right side panel.

Ad Hoc Zones

You can also place zones that are not in the zone hierarchy. These ad hoc zones would be specific to a particular store and not be a part of the overall zone hierarchy. To do this, click on Create New.

The process for drawing the zone is the same as outlined above. Once drawn, you will be prompted to enter a name for the zone.
